My interest in photography has grown steadily over the years.  Starting out with a single Canon AE-1 in 1985, I slowly built a hobby as I took more and better pictures, and in the early 90′s, started traveling a lot.  With the resultant images, I covered my walls with enlargements- at one point my apartment had over 200 images on the walls, with room for little else.

In the early 90′s as well, I started seriously taking 3D photographs, which became my “sub hobby” within photography in general.  With polarizers and projectors, I was able to show 3D slideshows of my vacations to my friends, which usually got people to actually ask to see them, instead of dreading seeing someone else’s vacation shots. :)

I founded the website 3dphoto.net in 1996, with a mere 36 images.  Today it has over 3000 3D images from around the world.  Building on that, in 2006 I added a Forum to that website, which at the time of the founding of this blog (mid-2007) has over 100 members- 3D hobbyists sharing their photos and techniques.

Later in 2006, I joined Flickr and discovered that the world is full of great photographers.  I realized quickly that, though I take great landscape shots, I could do better at my everyday life.  Those type of pictures were almost non-existent for me.

In early 2007, I had an epiphany one day to start a Picture-a-Day project, and registered the URL www.picture365.net.  The very next day I was taking a picture a day, with the hope of becoming a better photographer.  That project has helped me immensely, though I feel I have a long, long, long way to go to the unattainable goal of the Perfect Photographer.  That project also indirectly led me to start SirSnapALot, a somewhat humorous attempt to share my knowledge, and gather comments and ideas from others along the way.

My reference to the “unattainable goal of the Perfect Photographer” represents my philosophy on being a photographer.  It’s a journey, not a goal.  The goal is to simply take the journey.
